What does depression feel like?

Depression feels different for everyone. For some, it feels like being “stuck” in an endless cycle of unhappiness and exhaustion. Just getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. Despite getting hours and hours of sleep, they just don’t have the energy to do anything. For others, it feels like not being able to enjoy anything anymore. They feel agitated and short with their loved ones, when usually they are patient and loving. They can’t concentrate at work anymore, and deadlines are barely being met. Both of these people don’t like the person they’re becoming. But why is it so hard to feel “normal” again?
